A curious subargentum 'aureus'

UNCERTAIN GERMANIC TRIBES, Pseudo-Imperial coinage. Mid 3rd-early 4th centuries. 'Aureus' (Subargentum, 21 mm, 5.38 g, 12 h), 'Stern Group'. Imitating Septimius Severus, 193-211. IOVONOV OVAHOΛO Laureate head of Septimius Severus to right. Rev. IOVI ONUIO Victory advancing right, holding wreath in her right hand and palm frond in her left. A very curious piece. Holed and with some minor scrapes, otherwise, about very fine.

This curious piece was struck from the same pair of dies as lots 1865-1866 above, but - curiously enough - not on solid gold but on gold plated silver (subargentum).
